Visit to Norman Lockyer Observatory

To launch our ‘Space’ topic class one children from Hawkchurch and Musbury visited the Norman Lockyer Observatory at the start of this term. We arrived on a beautiful sunny day, Mrs Wilcox’s husband came along to launch an air rocket. We took in turns to pump the rocket and then watched it shoot into the sky. Next we went into the observatory for a guided tour of the telescopes. After lunch we learnt all about the different planets and watched a photo show about this. Later we all went into the planetarium for our own ‘star show’. It was a very exciting and enjoyable day and all the children responded and behaved beautifully.
