Intent: Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and digital art and are given the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas.
Each term we focus on a different aspect of art and teach the skills to ensure progression in that aspect. This focus will be linked to an artist (past or present) and children are given the opportunity to evaluate their work. Furthermore, children will consolidate previous learnt skills, especially their drawing skills, throughout the rest of the term. This consolidation will usually be linked to other aspects of the curriculum.
Where possible we seek to invite local artists / experts into school to support the children’s application of new skills. We run an art club after school.
