Intent: To read music and be able to play a musical instrument.
In KS1, music is linked to the themes and skills from other curriculum areas. It is adapted to the needs of the children using resources such as BBC teach. It is taught weekly.
Across KS2, music is taught weekly and we supplement our provision by using the ‘Charanga’ scheme of work and online resources. Wherever possible the children use instruments to compose sequences of music including recorders, keyboards and glockenspiels. We also work with Babcock Music Team to secure class sets of musical instruments and the expertise to deliver effective tuition e.g. ukuleles.
Children are also able to compose music using ‘Garage Band’ and Isle of Tunes on the iPads.
