The school day
The school office is open for enquiries from 8.00am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday. It would be most helpful if enquiries could be made between these hours.
Children arrive at school from 8.20 am, where they wait with a parent on the school playground until 8.25am when the children are taken into Class by the Class Teacher. The register opens at 8.30am and closes at 8.45 am. If your child arrives between 8.30am and 8.45am they will be coded as late (L) if they arrive after 8.45am they will be coded as arriving after the register has closed (U) which is an unauthorised absence. If you arrive at school after 8.30am you will need to enter the school via reception. If your child is not in school by 9am, and we have not heard why, the school office will try and contact you to ascertain a reason for absence.
There is a mid-morning break at 10.15 am- 10.30 am when the children play outside (weather permitting). Assembly takes place after lunch every day; occasionally we have Reverend Hilary lead assemblies in the church or ‘Open The Book’, led by local members of the community. Every two weeks on a Friday we have Celebration Assembly at 8.40am in St Michael's Church. Lunchtime is between 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm. Children can bring a packed lunch or have a school lunch (these are provided by Portlock's Pantry). Universal Infant Meals are provided for all EYFS & KS1 children.
The children are in two classes:
Class 1 – Reception, Yr1 and Yr2
Class 2 – Yr3, Yr4, Yr5 and Yr6
Afternoon school starts at 1.00 pm. The school day ends at 2.45 pm. At the end of the day parents are asked to meet the children in the playground. We run various after school clubs, which are changed each term.
